The 3 Essential Facial Serums

The 3 Essential Facial Serums

Every skincare routine must have these 3 serums…

When it comes to skincare, there is so much confusing information out there. How are you supposed to know which serum is right for your skin? How will you know the order in which you’re supposed to apply your products? How can you tell if your products are actually worth the money?

The thing is, you don’t have to be an expert in skincare. You just need to find a brand you can trust. It takes a lot of time, research and testing to truly claim the title of “Skincare Expert.” As the face behind Tina Mattern, I’ve already spent the time researching. I consulted with a dermatologist before putting my name on any skincare product to assure that my products are nothing short of the best. I needed to know how to create quality products that do the job without breaking the bank, and I wasn’t stopping until I figured out the secret formula.

The dermatologist said there are really three essential serums everyone should use, regardless of skin type. I took his advice and moved forward with developing the essential serums. The three must-have serums are:

  • Hyaluronic Acid – Hydrates and nourishes
  • Vitamin C Serum – Brightens and controls blemishes
  • Retinol Serum – Rejuvenates and prevents aging

Serums vs. Lotions:

Before we break down each of these serums, we need to understand the difference between a serum and a lotion. A serum is lighter than your typical face lotion product and contains powerful ingredients that penetrate the lower layers of your skin. Serums work from the bottom up thus rejuvenating your skin. Serums are concentrated and do not contain added fillers that dilute the effects of your typical lotions. Traditionally, there are no oils found in serums. Ultimately, serums are the most potent and effective due to their ability to penetrate the lower levels of the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Now I know what you might be thinking, “acid, on my FACE?!” Yes, believe it or not, your body naturally produces Hyaluronic Acid in the joints and eyes.

This means that Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring molecule in our bodies. It lubricates the connective tissues of our joints and skin and acts as a water magnet, holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water.

Hyaluronic Acid fortifies the skin’s natural barriers to help lock in for the most dramatic hydrating impact. Over time, this additional moisture helps slow down the deterioration of the lipid barrier of the skin. Ultimately, Hyaluronic Acid helps to protect and fortify the skin.

Vitamin C Serum

Vitamin C is a crucial vitamin for your body both internally and externally. Using a Vitamin C serum helps fade pigmentation and smooths the skin’s surface thus reducing dullness. (Psssst… this is what gives the skin a youthful glow!)

Regularly applying a Vitamin C serum impedes melanin production. Stopping the production of melanin aids in the fading of dark spots and results in a more even-toned complexion.

Did you know that Vitamin C serums are crucial to repairing sun-damaged skin? Sun damage is caused by molecules called free radicals. These free radicals are atoms with a missing electron searching for their missing electron. This process can lead to significant damage to the skin without the use of a Vitamin C serum rich in antioxidants. These antioxidants protect skin cells by giving the free radicals an electron, rendering them harmless and saving your skin from damage.

Retinol Serum

I saved the best-kept secret in the beauty industry for last. Retinol is the ultimate anti-aging must-have. Retinol alters the behavior of aged cells, so they act in a more youthful manner. Regular use of Retinol serum smooths and refines the skin’s texture, enhances skin radiance and treats aging.

Overall, a good Retinol serum will change your life. Seriously. Regular usage prevents wrinkles and smooths out existing fine lines and wrinkles. Retinol exfoliates at a cellular level, which results in brighter and smoother skin. It even smooths existing fine lines and prevents future wrinkles.

Quality Ingredients Matter

Now that you know the best 3 serums every skincare routine should have, where should you look to get these serums? Sadly, a lot of products on the market cannot live up to their anti-aging and ultra-moisturizing claims. Others hide harmful ingredients inside that should never go on one’s skin.

When I set out to research skincare, I knew I wanted to do it the right way. I’m proud to say all my serums are:

  • Cruelty-Free
  • Paraben-Free
  • Fragrance-Free
  • 100% Vegan
  • Organic

Now not all other serums out there are “bad.” Some companies are even providing similar products to me, but their prices cannot compete. They charge higher costs to afford marketing, warehousing, shipping and more. I provide the same quality at a fraction of the cost. If you try my products and do not love them, I will be happy to refund your money, that’s my guarantee

When and How-to Use Facial Serums

Here are some quick tips and tricks to ensure the proper sure of your facial serums:

  • It is recommended to use a toner after cleansing your face but before using serums
